I love that the 1st floor is actually the 1st floor.
When I was young I was always confused with when I entered a building it was not considered as a floor. Counting always started at 0. Here in the USA it seems more logical. You enter the building means you are on the first floor, next one up is the second and so on. It makes a lot of sense to me and I think it should be like that everywhere...
I love that you can buy blueberries at 2 am.
New York is truly the city that never sleeps. But whereas Starbucks and Mc Donald's close in the evening, street vendors sell their produce all night long. When I was in Denver in 2003 or in Las Vegas in 2006, it was very difficult to find fruit at all. But in New York, you can get your share of vitamins 24/7.
I love that you can duplicate keys and no questions are asked.
As Zapo only had two sets of keys and we where 5! people living there, I went to duplicate his keys. I arrived around 6pm at a chinese place where no questions were asked and I paid less than 2 Dollars per key.
I love that there is a lot of recycling going on.
In front of every other house, there are many different garbage cans. Americans in New York usually separate paper, glass and aluminum.
I love that there is free wifi in every park.
In many parks in New York you can log in the city's free wifi. The internet connection is usually faster than in Starbucks or Mc Donald's restaurants.
